why are goats stupid and mean?

Went down this morning to find a dead newborn with it's mother hiding outside. I am assuming the other doe kept beating on her as she tried to take care of her little boy. He was partially cleaned and cold.

Noticed nasty doesn't look like she is pregnant. Didn't lose weight and isn't showing signs of bagging up. When she had come into heat, instead of going with the buck, she fought with him. Come to think of it, she has been acting kind of bucky. Is there some disorder that would cause a doe to act like a buck?

Mad at myself because I didn't separate her just in case but wanted to wait one more day because of the rain to let the other doe with kids out of kidding pen. She looked like she still had a couple days, one more at least. Ligament still there... eating good... Sigh, hate when that happens. Sigh....

Think I'm done... had enough. First the FF lost her twin girls and now this and with the other one not being pregnant, I won't be able to make my farm taxes this year unless I sell the does. Only have the 4 now.

10 years was a good run, right?

I am so sorry for your loss deetu & I sure hope it looks brighter in a day or two. Sometimes it helps if we wait a few days to make any big decisions so we can think more clearly.
I sure hope things work out for you, sending Hugs & prayers to New Jersey for you!

I read somewhere that most people only make it for three years in goats - you really have a good thing going. Ten years is AWESOME!!!

(((Hugs)))) So sorry that this has been such a hard year!

I wonder why people would only go three years in goats? Maybe cause it takes that long for them to break the fences down and start getting out all the time and eating everything in site? We only made it 3 years the first time, but had a life changing event sort of made me lose interest in everything. Now we're back again.

((((HUGS)))) deetu. Some years things just seem to go from bad to worse, but this too shall pass. Hang in there!

So sorry you are having such a bad time. I hope things look better in a few days. Have you checked to see if the doe that is acting bucky is a hermie?
