Goat working night

We banded the boys, one of which is taking it pretty hard. He's walking funny, laying down a lot, carrying on. I checked it and it seems to be ok. Just hoping I didn't get it up too high. One little buck only had one testicle? Then wormed everyone, disbudded the young goats and had to re-disbud a young doeling that decided to grow one horn. I HOPE I did it good enough. I re-burned, cut off the top half of the horn bud that was there, cauterized it and seared again around the parameter. I told my daughter if she grows a horn this time it'll just have to stay. I can't see putting her through it again.

UH oh. He probably has one testicle in his body cavity. If he's not future barbecue, better get that seen to professionally.

He's destined for the freezer come fall. He should have had both of them down. He's 2 months old, but he may very well have had one up in there.

Watch him with your does. I got twin unregistered kids from my registered LaMancha doe cause I did not get both testicles in a banding of a grade buckling. Never happened to me before that I know of, but I really wanted Crusader kids out of her. Now I have to wait until next year! My fault too.

I think all these boy kids will be kept separate till freezer time, but we didn't want that buckey flavor so we decided to band them.

I have had different boys when banding actually pull 1 back up inside while crying, there not crying cause it hurts there crying cause dh is restraining them so I can band them. I always double check to make sure there both down there.

I hope the little one that's taking it so hard does better, sometimes too high up can cause discomfort, pull on the hair, etc.

I hope I didn't get it too far up. It looked right when I did it, but now seems too far. He seems a tad better today. I tried to roll it down just a touch, but it wasn't budging and there was no cutting it off without cutting him. He's walking today and eating though. Poor guys.

If there isn't a teat inside the band then you and he should be fine. I noticed that some bucklings take it a lot harder than others.
