Question about milking
I have a friend with a snubian doe that just freshened a few weeks ago. She wants to start milking her but due to her schedule, can only milk once a day. The doe had 3 kids - 2 bucklings and a doeling, but one of the bucklings died shortly after birth. My friend is considering removing the buckling now and bottle feeding him until she can sell him...or maybe keep him for the freezer, she hasn't decided yet.
Either way, she is curious about how the does milk production would be affected by removing the buckling now. Since she can only milk once a day, would removing the buckling be more likely to reduce the output? Or would she be more likely to get more milk...since she's getting what the buckling would have gotten if left with the doe?
