dairygoatinfo?

Just tried to go to dairygoatinfo.com and get the message that the site is not active. Anyone know what the deal is? I was just there a few days ago and it was working ok.

This is what Vicky said on Face Book,

Quote:
We are moving the forum to a new server...they slammed us into a expenisve server, which you can't blame them as much CPU space as we take up..but still. So we will be down until Daniel, Daniel Summer is our new hero, and Sondra, get us pu...t back on. The .com will stay the same, so if when I tell you here that everything is back up and runnning, and you still can't get on, go on with dairygoatinfo.com not your saved favorites. Also this is why I say, goatkeeping 101 should be printed out and the start of your own goat book, if it is lost it is lost forever.

Aw man!

What a pain....will it all be on a new server, meaning new user name and every bit of what was on the forum is gone??

What I see from what Vicki is saying is DGI is being switched to a new server. It will be a different address than from the old server so anything we have saved, just in our favorites, will not go to the new site. Everything will be the same at the new server otherwise, just a different server. But this is a wake up call to us all that want to have the wealth of information printed out just in case of TEOWAWKI. THe End Of THE WOrld As We KNow It. With everything going on out there, Hmmm.

Ummmm....yeah.

Wow. I was talking to Vicki last week and mentioned that DairyGoatInfo had been, like, a BIBLE to me for many years. I was CONSTANTLY on that site when a question popped up in my head.

Oh my God! How can we provide goat info links with DGI down?!?!?

I have the pre-breeding, pre-kidding management info saved. If anyone needs it, I can certainly email it.

From Vicky:

WEDNESDAY UPDATE; This morning about 8:30am siteground opened the files up to us. They didn't do a backup, just opened up file access. Daniel downloaded the forum files. It took almost 4 1/2 hours to download. It is about 2 1/4 gigabytes. I bought server space on BlueHost. They said they would help get the forum up and going after I upload the files. We will upload Thrusday morning and let everyone know how it goes.

I am having a problem this morning, so I went to the sight and panicked.... It didn't come up!! It is an incredible site. Here's hoping the info is moving to a new server.

THURSDAY UPDATE FROM DANIEL: I started the upload of our files at 9am this morning. Left for work at 2:30 and they were still going. Wife kept a check for me and when I called home at 5:30pm it was just finshing up. I have our Database ...files downloaded to a cd that I did tonight at work, (hope I don't get caught) these are not the files that I uploaded today, these are different. These contain all the threads, member data and passwords ect. These I will load tommarow morning. The tech support guy at BlueHost checked the files I uploaded today and said it all looked good and in the right place. They are being real helpfull. Said after we load the databases, and get all the setting pointing to BlueHost it should work. If not said to open a ticket and they will help out.

I still can't access it. Vicki recommended that I email "Daniel" who is apparently the webmaster, but I don't have his email address.

He emailed me and had me go to anonymouse.org

Here's the actual link he sent. I then logged on from there, and now it works.

McAffee tells me that the risk is unacceptable to access this site.

McAfee is typically full of boogies. I can't stand that software. AVG is much better and free.
