feeling a LOT less like CRUD now!!!

The 5 day old doeling that I mentioned in an earlier post, appears to be in the clear.

After a great amount of research by board member "mygoat", I think the doeling was suffering from encephalitis from the disbudding instead of tetnus.

The research that mygoat sent was spot on in relation to the symptoms the doeling was showing.

This sure was a learning experience.

Thanks for the words of encouragement and advise, it was most appreciated.

I'm so glad that things turned out well! Is that common with disbudding and is there anything to be done differently in the future? Very good to know. (I don't have any goats yet but my pregnant does come as soon as I'm ready for them - and I'm trying to learn all I can!)

It is, unfortunately, one of the risks one takes with the procedure. It is SOMETIMES caused by bad technique in disbudding, but more often caused by the simple fact that all goats are slightly different, accidents happen, or Fortune failed to smile at that moment.

Lauri, I am glad your doeling has gotten well!
