Mixed breed & future breeding question...

Rosie and her huge girl are already reserved. The lady that is getting them is very excited.

Because of the problems with Violet & the fact that Gigantica (okay-I call her Arwen Evenstar since she has elf ears & her momma is the last of that line - but she really isn't named yet) is so huge, we are worried about whether it is a line issue to throw large kids or a mixed breed issue. Either way, Arwen looses.

In the future, Rosie only gets bred to Oberhaslis and is watched closely at kidding time. But what about Arwen? How should she be bred? Who is her Aragon? (KS Hobbit - any ideas?) Dh suggested only miniature breeds (dwarves?) in the future. That is about the best I can come up with.

The lady getting Sweet Rosie is very excited and also very new. We both appreciate your suggestions!

Thanks!

I don't have answers for you. But yes maybe using a ND buck would be best. Are getting out of the Obers then?

I think so. Rosie is really sweet but we don't have room to add any more goats and this whole deal with Violet has been really tough. We don't have room for an Ober buck and I absolutely will never do the LaMancha/Ober mix again - just in case it was a mixed breed thing vs a line thing. Nope. Too much pain. No more experimental goats at CrossRoads End.

I think a ND would work, too. I will let this lady know. She is very excited about Rosie & "Arwen". I wish we could keep them - but it is time for them to move on.
