Question Anyone used the Hoegger Herbal Wormer

Although I do use commercial wormers for my herd, I am interested in trying out the herbal wormer that Hoegger sells as I prefer to be as "organic" as possible. I know wormers like this generally don't take care of the more difficult nusances like lung worm and such, but I am considering giving this a try. Has anyone else tried it and if so, what did you think of it?

I get Molly's Herbals from Fias Co. It seems to work pretty well. The problem is you have to give it to them once a week. The worms aren't supposed to like the herbs in the wormer so they'd rather leave. So you have to keep the herbs present in their system. If you keep up on it it does seem to work...so far. I’ve been using it for about a year now. I don’t know how it compares to Hoegger herbal wormer though.

Same here, I like Molly's, it can be a challenge to get your goats to eat it, we use molasses and vinegar in a squirt bottle mixed with a bit of water and spray it on the dewormer on top of the grain...
I really like the idea, and also the results!!

It is hard to get them to take it sometimes. I only have two goats so it's not too bad. I've been mixing some herbals up with molasses or honey and feeding them a ball of it. I think I'm going to try drenching it when I get my drencher. We'll see how that goes.

I hated it. Well, actually, my GOATS hated it and therefore drenching with water/wormer/mollasses mix every week was absolutely terrible. They were all sticky and gross from the mix and my goats always stayed 10' away from me where before they'd mob me for attention. I didn't use it long enough to see if fecals changed... but my goodness was it a freaking hassle.

Fiasco farm also has details about issues with using wormers like Hoegger's on a weekly basis - trouble with pregnancies as well as affects of long term use that have been noticed in humans with the same ingredients... I'm no herbalist so I have no idea.

I use the herbal wormer from Fiasco Farm. I much prefer it to the chemical wormers that I have also used...The herbal stuff is great as long as you keep up on it.

I use Hoeggers, but only twice a year. It works fine, but our goats are in the barn and not on graze. There isn't a big parasite problem here in the high desert of Idaho.

When we started into goats we used hoeggers herbal wormer. It worked for about the first year, or maybe it just kept the worms slightly at bay, I don't know, I wasn't fecal testing back then. I do know in our second year worms came down hard on the girls and we had an awful time of it. I switched to chemical wormers until the problem cleared up. Then we started Fiascos wormer. Now that I was fecal testing I know that it worked alright, but we would still use a chemical once a year. These days I don't mess with it, we only need to chemical worm maybe twice a year. I don't know if the worms built a resistance or it's just that are land is 'used' now with more worms in the ground, but fecals show only mild improvement against HC worms, not enough to knock them out. I still use it on occasion as an aid - when we purchase a new goat I worm with the herbal until I can get a fecal done. I found it dose work well against cocci in 1 year old or over goats, but not in kids as preventive. If your able to do pasture rotation you may be able to pull it off with an herbal wormer. I recommend fiasco over hoeggers because of the ingredients. Also, keep fecal checking while using it, they sneak up on you.
