A girl kind of day

Today my mini lamancha gave me triplets, 2 girls and one boy. One of my nubian/saanen/alpine crosses gave me twin girls. Hooray! Gotta love that.

I posted pictures on my blog http://holesinmyjeans-kpannabecker.blogspot.com/

I have another mini lamancha I think will kid tomorrow and another cross in the next few days. I hope I'm on a doeling roll.

We're at seven bucklings and two doelings. Three more does to kid in May.

Sigh.

It will get better. The three left will all give you nothing but does. I am sure of it. It WILL happen that way.....

MiniManchas are dairy goats. Very high butterfat content in the milk.

This is how big they get:

Is that you, Alice?

The minimancha is certainly much rounder than I expected they'd be, and even lower than our Kinder. (I think I'll always be trippin over those ears, or lack there of!). Anyway, I'll bet they do give nice milk!

Please answer: do the mini's (and therefore, our Kinder) give milk richer in butterfat because they're smaller? That is, less - but more 'concentrated' milk? I realize breed has a LOT to do with it.

Thanks everyone. I can hardly tear myself away from the barn this year. All I want to do is sit and stare at them and let them climb all over me. Also, I'm waiting on others to kid and don't want to miss it.

fellini123, I'm in Natural Bridge, VA. You should come see mine and I'll send a few home with you.

What beautiful babies!

Do Mini Manchas have the same wonderful personality as Manchas?

Tin Mom,
Yes, mini Manchas are just as gentle and sweet. At least mine are.

I can't answer about the butterfat but can tell you that pic was not long before that poor little goat had quints! (All boys) That's why she's so round.
