Lost a Doe

Polly was an FF, milking well, and as sweet as the day was long. Didn't actually see it happen, but there must have been a tussle or some butting during the morning feeding.

Polly wound up with an extremely bad compound fracture on a back leg, above the hock.

I consulted with my trusted and honest vet. Together we concluded that the leg probably could not be fixed, and if it could, the prognosis was not good. Additionally, he advised that the cost involved was very high for such a poor prognosis.

Polly as a coming yearling:

I put Polly down yesterday. *sigh*

I'm so sorry.. we lost a very promising buckling (the litter brother to Emily's Eric) to a high compound fracture of a rear leg.. it was his first day to be turned out into the woods.. he was there less then 2 hours, before the broken leg happened.. again, so sorry about Polly

susie, mo ozarks

She was a pretty doe. I hate those freak accidents.

Are you keeping her doeling in her place?
