Copper questions
I'm striking out. Where do you buy the empty capsules to fill with the copper? Is the 00 size what everyone uses & is it that size filled per 50 lbs? How often to give it normally & how often is safe if you're sure there's a copper deficiency? Thanks for the help!

You can find empty 00 capsules at most online vitamin stores. Also, check Amazon. Just sdo a search for "gelatin capsules" 00.
00, filled up, is good for 50lbs. You could use a larger size for a larger goat, but it is more difficult to get it down their struggling throats. That's why most of us use 00.
For severe deficiency, give full dose once per month until you see improvement. Realize that it is DIFFICULT to overdose a goat on copper. Once you see improvement, dose every three months. If you look up your area and find you do not have a soil copper deficiency, you can cut back and dose every 6 months or so.
Hope this helps.

I found some at our local health food store. I looked them up online, but there was no way I was paying $14 shipping for something that costs $2.50. LOL So, I just pick some up when I'm in town anyway and save myself the shipping costs.

If you don't already have the copasure or the capsules, Cannon Farms makes up the boluses for your needs & ships them ready to give to your goats.

yep i do and thank you for the plug Backfourty. I pay about 2 cents a capsule by the time shipping is added and I get mine from wonderlabs, it was the least expensive for the quality i found last year but it never hurts to shop. what i dont like is all the spam they send to my email and the box full of advertisments even though its cool stuff

If you are intent with your goats being completely Vegan, then you should feed them vegetable capsules.
I am not that picky. Mine get gelatin.
The vegetable capsules were made for the vegetarian/vegan market.

Tracy:
I got them at the health food store on W Tennessee St near the Albertsons, but I just called and their phone number is disconnected so I guess they have gone out of business. If you need them sooner than you can get them by mail, I can give you some on Saturday if you like...

I use 1/8 ounce capsules from Valley Vet. One capsule per goat. I am dosing over 100 head at a time generally and do not want to fight trying to get multiple capsules down a goats throat.
Gelatin Capsules
it does mean weighing it out individually and having capsules ready for each weight range. 4g, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5 etc. is the ranges I do mine in.

Thanks for the feedback. Cannon Farms can you send me info on how you sell the copper? I don't really like the idea of having to get more than one capsule down them at a time, but if that's what we have to do.... Kitty, I've found out also that the Vitamin store on Apalachee sells them (according to their website anyway).
