Myotonics...Goats you can enjoy!
Myotonics or Fainting goats are not jumpers, don't need their hoofs trimmed
Only need to be wormed about twice a year ,are great mothers and will stay in about any fence as long as it can't go under!
Meat goats that cross very well, and are easy to catch when they faint...haha

Mornin Conrad and Welcome!!!! They are a really good looking goat, especially the bucks. As soon as my checkbook stops smokin, I plan to build and fence an area for goats. Been researching the Fainting Goats - they are quite expensive, but exactly what I've wanted. Thanks for posting the pics, are they yours? Take care, Reb

Mytonics, like all goats, DO need their hooves trimmed. My friend has about 10, they all get long in the toe just like every other goat. I'd actually think since they are less likely to run and jump around, they'd wear down their hooves LESS.
They are fun goats, very meaty. I would go with them if I ever found a tested clean herd.

Thanks, Yes we have had a closed herd for several years, I will never own any other type of goat! They are functional animals that get the job done, bottom line.......

Very nice looking group of goats. I agree with Mygoat though on the hooves, I do believe all goats need hoof trimming every now & then unless climbing on alot of rock or cement to help keep them trimmed.
I do like the breed as well though.
Oh & Welcome to the goat forum, always good to have new folks join!

They do need hoor trimming, unless they are walking on rocks, shingles, or other hard surfaces. A lady I know had a herd of about 30 and man it took me forever to do a few of her goats, they were so bad.
I bought one of her doelings, she was here for a little under 2 years, she now lives in WY...enough said lol.
Your goats are pretty

I'm impressed with the looks of your herd. Sleek, shiney, well fed.
Normally, I'm not fond of fainting goats, but yours are outstanding!

I do not need to trim hooves, and I do not have fainting goats. I have minis....and I have tough, like concrete, Blacklands Prairie clay soil.
~shrugs~ My experience has been that have quite a bit of acreage to roam/browse/graze/etc. in, even if it is sandy, soft loam soil, tend to need less or no trimming than goats that are dry-lotted for even part of the year.
In other words, it is not the breed of goat, but the amount of room they have.
You do have GORGEOUS goats though. I am severely partial to the black and white coloring. I know you can't milk (or eat) color, but I STILL like certain colors better than others.

Very nice herd. I'd love to see what their hooves look like naturally. . .I have to trim my mini Nubians, Nigerians and Nubians every 4 weeks! ugh.
