Ruby Gloom kidded

Just realized I never really updated about Gloomy & baby.. Ruby Gloom (Gloomy) our unplanned, teenage mom...kidded yesterday morning. Around 11pm her ligaments were finally gone. Gloomy however was showing no other signs of labor. Around 6am she lost her mucus plug, still no other changes. At 7:45 she had her fist light contraction (couldn't see it, but she got suddenly round eyed & lifted her ears).. she was ready to push by 8:05am.. we had a big, healthy single buckling wrapped in a towel & headed for the house by 8:11am.... easy, breezy delivery.. I'm actually happy that he's a he LOL.. (he is the great-grandson of our herdqueen Jenna -I've loved every baby, grandbaby ect that we've ever had from Jenna... Ozark Jewel's buck Eric the Red, is a Jenna son) SO.. Gloomy's little guy will be joining our herd..

here he is.. Ages Ago Acres Walk This Way (Walker)
(he was brand new in these pics.. still snoozing, hadn't tried to stand yet)
Ruby Gloom kidded - Goats
(trying to get up on to his feet)
Ruby Gloom kidded - Goats
(finally made it.. note that he is SPOT-ted yep one wee on his hip)

all in all.. it was a wonderful, easy start to our kidding season.. may all the does/kids have it as quick and simple

thought I'd post a picture of Jenna. (Walkers g-grand dam)... she turns 9 on March 17th. Got her bio tracking results back wed.. she is pregnant by our black buck Journey (Gloomy's sire) I'm really excited.. I want to be greedy every year and just keep everything I get out of Jenna & Gloomy's mom Ruthie .. this is the line I would go down to, if I could only have one line for a herd.. Long lived, super easy kidders, easy keepers (can stay fat on air) the sweetest, most loving souls in our entire herd and they milk!!! couldn't ask for more.

Oh, I am so happy for you, Susie!

That little guy is a doll. (Have you noticed that when you name a kid after a song, you have that song stuck in your head for weeks? Ozark Mountain Daredevils' "Jackie Blue" has been running through my head this week...)

Here's to the first of many easy, productive kiddings - CHEERS!

We name most of goats after songs. (or sometimes food or drinks).. We are already singing "Just Gimme a KISS" to little Walker LOL.. Our Jackie Blue hears her song often LOL.

What a beautiful boy. Any chance that he'd like a long vacation in Florida? Just asking. He could have a season pass to Disney. Animal Kingdom
