Thinking WV

We are at the point of retiring and have farmed in Maine for many years. Our small herd of NDs have kept us happy this year. We are now looking for a warmer, less snowy place to have a small homestead with a garden and goats. Of course the $$ is limited so we are wanting an inexpensive place that is goat and old folk friendly. I am looking at places in WV. An suggestions?

You may want to look in the ADGA directory and call some breeders in West Virginia. I know of a prominent Saanen breeder, an Alpine breeder, and a judge that live in West Virginia.
I am in Ohio now, but I lived in Maine for a few years. Are you sure you won't miss the snow and cold weather of the Maine winters??

Go to www.city-data.com, they have data about areas and crime rates and such. They also have a forum specific to WV where you can read what people are saying about it, you can also sign up and ask questions.

www.realtor.com is a good place to check for houses. If you want to search Craig's be careful of any scams. Realtors do post on there as well, anyone that does not give you a local number and address, pass over it.

Miss Maine winters...Ha! Its snowing again today! The thing is ...everything is measured in time to get there. My son also lives in Maine. He is "only" four hours away! My daughter, Maine , 5 hours away. My grain supplier 50 minutes one way (if he has what I need.)

I live in WV too, and would recommend it. :-) We have our issues (where doesn't) but for me it's home. If you have any specific questions about areas and the like, just give me a yell. I live close to Wayne, WV if you want to google it.
