Goiter in newborn kids

We had triplets born this morning to a boer cross doe, (Nubian sire), all with goiters. The doeling's goiter was huge, like two plumbs side by side beneath her jaw. The two little boys (who survived) have smaller goiters.

I'm guessing the triplets are a few days premature (teeth not broken through). They suckle great now on a bottle or on Mom if I hold them up to her. They can't stand yet but try.

How can I correct the iodine deficiency in the babies? And in the herd? These are the first kids of the season.

Many use kelp meal. I also put 1-3 drops of iodine tincture dropped on the skin and rubbed around with the eye dropper. I use the 7 percent. Others just use the weaker tincture.

I've heard of feeding kelp and never knew why :P duh Guess what I'll be looking for tomorrow . . .

I have some old iodine solution for udders from two years ago, but I'll just get a tincture tomorrow and make a drench for the big girls. This is my first year with this particular doe (she belongs to daughter in law), and I've had does freshen in this area but never this issue before. Copper deficiency, yes, but not iodine.

When was doe last wormed?
What type of minerals are you feeding?

My first guess is that of encased worm load, not iodine deficiency.
