Dimethox 40% question

The 40% is the injectable, correct? When using it for prevention, you give it orally? Drench straight or with water or in a bottle of milk?
What's the dosage for the 40% for prevention and treatment?
Thanks.

Its given orally and undiluted.

The dose for prevention is:

1cc per 5# for day one
1cc per 10# for days 2, 3, 4 and 5 for a preventative dose. Repeat every 21 days.

Nope...you can tell it is kidding season from people posting in the goat forums at 1:30 in the morning.

She's not acting like she is gonna pop tonight....so off to bed with me.

Of course, as soon as I get comfy and asleep, there will be screams from the barn.

I just give mine straight from a needleless syringe or one of the human kid kind of medicine syringes. They do not like it I'll warn you, mine always sputter & spit.

You shouldn't give ruminants antibiotics orally. They are too prone to acidosis to use oral methods as a first choice. If you do choose to give it orally, then make sure you give probiotics too. I was always too careful to give them orally because the vet was constantly warning about how susceptible they are to bloat and acidosis.

In goats its used for the prevention of cocci. I have never heard of giving probios with it. It works well just putting it in the bottles of bottle babies. They suck it right down with the milk.

It is not an antibiotic, it is for prevention or treament of coccidiosis in goats.

It is given Orally for the prevention, and treatment of Cocidiosis.
Sometimes You do give goats antibiotics orally.
(Such in the case of an Entertoxemia outbreak where you would give them Penecillian as a shot and Orally at the same time along with other treatments.)
