re-introducing grain

So I've been posting the saga of my goat's intestinal distress.

I had to be gone for 15 hours today. She ate ALL of her hay (a normal 12 hour supply) and a little of her mineral.

she produced two small puddles of what looked almost exactly like baked beans, and when I grained the other does she stood at her gate and complained "hey! you forgot me!"

So I gave her a handful (it takes 7 of my "handfuls" to make up what she was getting 2x a day) She gobbled it down an then rewarded me by drinking a bunch of water normally. (her grain mix has some sweet feed in it)

She is starting to look thinner (although the twins are 16 days old, so she should look some thinner) so I would like to get the grain back in her diet ASAP. I am also worried about milk production.

If she is fine in the morning, and I keep her on all she can eat hay, how fast can I re-introduce the grain? I have never had a goat off grain due to illness for more than a meal or two.

poop! poop! piles of pelleted poop!

I'm still posting in case anyone finds this story helpful.

I gave her two handfuls of grain this morning. Intend to give her 3 tonight, 5 tomorrow morning, and her regular scoop tomorrow night.

unless anybody has a dire warning or other experience to change my mind?

That sounds safe as long as her poop remains normal. Back off if it gets bad again.
