3 does kidding this year ...

Thought all 3 had been bred last September; however, only 2 have kidded. Third one still not showing signs of doing so, though she is very large.

First doe to kid always had 2 babies; this time she had only one...as always without complications.
Second doe to kid always had 2 babies; this time she has had three...as always without complications.
Last doe to kid always has 3 and tries to bury one every year (that one has always died no matter what we did to save it & still have no idea as to why).

It is wonderful to see the firt kid here (an extra large buckling) finally have more kids to be with. All 4 kids sleep together! Would love to show you pics; but cannot do so at this time.

How many placentas does the 3rd one pass? If only one, maybe it turns loose too soon and the 3rd kid drowns? Don't know enough about goat birthing to know but know 2 can share a placenta and read somewhere to hope they birth before it comes loose because the second one could drown. Just a thought. Hopefully someone who knows more will have an explanation for you.

Thanks for trying to help CarolT.

As I recall, the doe that loses one each year does "not" pass as much afterbirth as the others had been; certainly not as much as the one who delivered 3 this year. So you might be on to something. Any suggestion as to how I can help get the 3rd baby birthed safely?

Sorry, I haven't been doing this long enough to have suggestions Maybe someone with more experience knows some way to help speed the birth or slow the placenta coming loose?
