milking equipment?

i have found a used Complete with stainless steel milker, surcingle strap, hose, portable vacuum pump, instructions, Stainless steel strainer (6 1/2" filter) and 500+ filters. it is set up for cows .my question is can i change it over to be used for goats? he says he wants 500.00 firm for it that too much? looks like it is in good shape.

how many goats would you say to have to be worth using a milk pump? i have 3 that will be in full milk in about 1 more month. do you think it would be worth getting? even if i wait to get more goats before i use it ?

It just depends on your hands. I can milk three by hand, but my arthritis bothers me if I try to do more.

Yes, you can change it over to use on goats. We're reconditioning a Surge vacuum pump milker right now. It has the stainless steel belly pail but we're putting on longer lines and goat size shells/insufflators. We can milk two in the future if we want, but for now we're going to plug two of the belly pail holes and milk one at a time. DH and DD do the milking and with seven due to freshen this year, no way I could get them to milk by hand (I do the other chores while they milk). We paid 500.00 for our Surge machine and the Babson belly pail, which was a great price. We're putting on a larger motor, which will be about 160.00 with shipping and the goat lines, shells and insufflators will be about 175.00 with shipping.
