Hard to believe...

she weighs that much. I just measured our nubian doe we got last summer. She was born June 9th, 2010 & according to Fias Co. weigh chart she is about 100 pounds. Maybe I measured wrong. She is definately not fat or too skinney I don't think.
I measured around her girth behind her front legs, is that correct? She was almost 32 inches around.

Must not work for mini's because I have a young buck that I can pick up pretty easily & dh & I are guessing he's about 45 pounds & he measured 28 inches around. He has a really thick coat though & I pulled the tape as tight as I could, but there's no way he weighs 87 pounds.

My mini nubian buck measured 36 inches around so that would make him about 140 pounds, seems awfully high.

The chart must just work for standard size goats?

The chart says it doesn't work for meat breeds or mini breeds. As for your Nubian doe, that is probably correct. Our yearling LaMancha doe Tally is about a hundred pounds. Hershey is a bit younger and not far behind in weight.

That sounds right to me. That's a decent size for a doe her age and a sign that you're doing a good job caring for her. I had a lamancha doeling that taped 100lbs before she was even 6 months old last summer and had confirm it with a scale because I was suspicious of the accuracy...and yep, the weigh tape was accurate.

Dh says we should put them in a sling & weigh them on our scale we use when weighing deer we get in the fall season.

She probly does weigh 100 pounds or so but it's probly those long lanky legs that makes her look so tall & lean. I'm used to the Nigerian dwarfs & have a few mini nubians as well so they are not even close to her height or weight.

I load mine up in the horse trailer and take them on an adventure to the clinic and weigh them there. I do it after hours because it is quite a scene! I keep Gretta on a collar and leash and Frankie ans Flossie stick to me like glue.

I bet it is something to see, I can't imagine all 8 of my goats prancing through my vets office & all the berries all over to get weighed. I think all mine would be all over me like glue! Too much excitement for me!! Hehehehe!
