Thinking of buying this goat today

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/grd/2189003841.html

She came from a CAE and scrapies free herd waiting to be sent her number so I can find out more.

the lady said she doesnt still look shaggy. shes not been around other goats since she was purchased from the breeder just kept a horse company. Shes 4 or 5 years old.
Mini Toggs anyone? LOL i do have a friend with some nice bucks ill use on her.

I'd disease test before taking her home. Put a refundable deposit on her to let them know you're a true buyer, but let them know it's conditional on the test results.

Having lived with horses doesn't mean she oculdn't have gotten CL or Johne's disease from them, just FYI. Horses get both of those. Especially if the horses brought it in from other herds or if they were bought at auction.

Unless you desperately need another goat, I wouldn't buy her without testing first.

It sounds like you have thought it through & have a place for her till test results come back.
I don't know anything about togg's but the scruffy look may just be her losing her undercoat.

I think Toggs have a tendancy to lean towards shaggy, so its probably just her winter hair.

she says shes sleeked off now. My quarantine are isnt even at my farm but I act as a leasing agent for two horse facilities so I can board her for free.
She looks nice and thick but we will have her tested asap like I said thats even cheap for meat prices around here so as long as she doesnt have cl shes worth buying.
the lady used to show goats many years ago before she got married, says the doe has very nice attachments and she took a long time looking for the right dairy goat for her family. We shall see Im going to look at her in a little while.
I dont know toggs but other than the hair I think shes a decent looking goat. I dont have a lot of money to spend on larger goats as I invest that into the Nigerians so Im hoping for the best, but prepared for the worse.

Since she won't be anywhere near the rest of your goats while you test, then go for it.

Wow, what a deal. Yeah I'd go for it and like you said, worst case with the testing she goes to freezer camp and cheap even for that.

I have a friend who has a toggenburg who has long hair that looks frosted like a human. She's absolutely beautiful. It looks like that goat just has long hair in the back, not shaggy. Good luck. I hope it all works out. Getting new goats is always exciting. Keep us up to date.
