Heads up!

I haven't seen this brought up yet this year so I thought I would bring it up. Watch your water buckets during kidding season. Seems like every year a kid drowns in a bucket (and even a shallow pan).

This is one of the things that I worry about every year. I'm so afraid of that happening.

You guys are probably right, babies coming in the next 2 days

About a week and a half ago, Zoe started loosing her plug.
Muffin is so big she can hardly walk, and her udder is getting big.
Friday Molly started with the loosing the plug stuff,

It was stated that they always wait until you have like a snow or ice storm!, Well apparently we are getting that starting in the morning! So just my luck even though they should be ready to go TODAY it will probably be monday or tuesday, well at least I will be home, with all my supplies!

I have hook on buckets that I can angle downward so that the kids could get out if they ever got in them. granted I have to fill them up more often but its worth it.

I will say that I have heard of kids being born into buckets while the dam was giving birth so keep that in mind as well.

I wouldn't want a newborn kid in a bucket even if I thought it could get out.

I hand pack water to my does during kidding season a few times a day.

I just raised the buckets in the mama's pens - again. That does scare me the way those little ones can jump.

That's one of my worries every year. I try to always take extra precautions when the kids start coming.
