Looky what i got today

Looky what i got today - Goats
:banana02:
Meet Oreo she is a 7 month old Nigerian/ pygmy cross with pretty blue eyes. I picked her up in hopes the pregnant pygmy would be here today. The lady has a young pygmy doe that i could get if she is a no show. Very nice lady showed me how to trim feet and told me all about shots and feeding. Im in overload with all the info she gave me.
I had a heck of a time tonight trying to get her to go to her barn. I hate to lose her to a predator the first night here. She is not totally tame hopefully i can bribe her into being friendly

Congratulations! Welcome to the Wonderful World of Caprine Slavery!

Treats are always good. Trub loves buttered corn muffins.

Congrats! She looks in better condition then the other doe, so it might be wise to get this lady's pygmy instead. Also they know each other and there will be no fighting between them in the beginning like when you bring in a new goat.

Mine hate raisins, I swear they think it is poop lol. But they will trample you for an animal cracker, except one he prefers Saltines So try some different treats till you hit on one they like.

Maybe the first couple days you could keep her in the barn until she's used to your voice & calms down a bit, maybe gets used to your feeding schedule, etc.

We let our girls run loose except at night this time of year but they know the whistle we make when it's time to come in to eat, that's when we lock them up too.
Treats are always good to get her to becomes more friendly with you also.

I would but this other doe is supposed to be tame. And if i don't get 1 tame goat im afraid the kids will terrorize the goats to death lol. As soon as Oreo was in the pen my 2 yr old and 4 yr old were in there trying to chase her into a corner to pet her. They were trying the tactics they learned when catching the chickens. Anyway i got them out told them there not allowed in tell she settled down.
The other doe is supposed to be here tonight if the weather is ok.

She looks almost identical to my Nigerian Lily, except Lily's black spot in the white is more down the sides.
