Have you noticed the number of MALES?

Is it just me, or have you noticed that a huge percentage of kids so far are bucklings???

We're having doelings here, starting next month. Yes. We are.

We are finally having a year that is going in the right direction for us. Out of 11 Boer kids, only three doelings so far. Out of 17 Nubians most are doelings.
I can't move Boer does for breeding for the life of me and never seem to have enough dairy doelings. Especially this year when I bred a large portion of dairy does meat because I wasn't selling any. Now people are coming out of the woodwork wanting Nubian does...go figure.
I'm pleased with bucklings. Means good money at the end of the year.

Those bucklings are so sneaky they are even disguising themselves as doelings (see my thread about having to change Aurora's name to Eli)

So far its 50/50 for me with one doe to go. Come on, Nuggie!

LaManchas have freshened. Twin doelings to Suzie and a single buckling to Angel.

The Saanens haven't started yet. Paul

Alice, I told my Saanen doe to give me 3 or 4 doelings. She said she would if I give her extra grain.

100% doelings here. Of course, we've only had one, so the odd are it would be 100% one way or the other.

Anyone ever tried centrifuging the semen? I know that female sperm in humans are larger than the ones carrying the Y chromosomes. I wonder if one might not be able to hedge their bets a bit, at least with AI breedings...

This year, counting the ones that didn't make it, we had 4 doelings and 3 bucklings.

Twin bucks here so far...... which BTW sucked! My daughters teacher wanted to buy a mini alpine doeling from me....which would have gave me funds to buy another standard alpine doe..

This time I've got a plan though Sabrina is due February 17th and I've already got a few potential homes lined out for bottle baby bucks...... I'm making no plan for does. If I plan on all bucks, perhaps life will throw me does out of spite And if life sees through my crafty plan and gives me bucks....well at least I will have arrangements made for them

I've talked to Sabrina about concentrating really hard on doe kids.....and have offered her many treat bribes......So far the treats haven't been good enough for her to agree......

LOL, there's a home for a buckling here! I have discovered that you really need an odd number of goats, and as I only want goats for carting, bucklings it is! Anyone want to dump a bright colored one with ears on me?

I should point out it started as a doe year for us. it wasn't until the Boer started kidding that we had any real number of bucklings born.
Last year it flipped and flopped from bucklings to doelings and ended up 73 bucks and 73 does. Who knows what will happen this year.
