Northstar milkstand question

Hi,

Im looking to get the milkstand, at least the headpiece. I think I would like to actually use one of these carts for the base:

http://www.tractorsupply.com/lawn-ga...y-cart-3599008

My goats are small nigerians. I like the idea of the cart because I can move it, and even move the goats easily if needed. Also I like how it has sides and that the sides are removable making a nice cage so they cant jump around to much.

Does anyone see a reason why this wont work? I have never seen one of these headgates in person so I dont know how they attach to the base. It SEEMS like it would work. The cart is cheaper and I wouldnt have to pay shipping on a large base.

Heres the headgate:

Headgate is WAY overpriced.

You can build one yourself in an afternoon.

I know but I am going to have to pay for the convenience. Goat is due thursday, and hubby promised milkstand be built a long time ago. I cant even haul wood in my small vehicle especially with my baby in tow. I CAN however oder this, have it delivered, and run to TSC and have them load the wagon into my small SUV. Its really the best Idea I have come up with. Unless someone in NE ohio wants to sell and deliver me a milkstand this week

Oh. Reluctant hubby and human kiddos and no truck. Well, go for it!:banana02:

(You know you have to assemble the wagon, right?)

How fun having a small truck and a hubby that works way too much. Makes you have to really improvise!

The wagon is very flimsey but you could put a piece of rubber mat on it. Then you might need brakes so it doesn't roll out from under one.

I was thinking you'd need to chock the wheels somehow, too.

Goats are the mothers of invention.

Hahaha and my hubby has a TRIPLET I dont know about since he is a twin already. Sadly mine is the more motivated twin actually.

I dont think the rolling will be an issue here because I plan on using it on our grass, and it is so soft grounded here, it will probably sink anyways.

So does anyone think it will attach to the cart ok? I can probably rig something up if it doesnt just clip on, but that is not ideal.
The cart part appeals to me because it will make it so easy to transport my ewes from pasture to pasture since im a weakling

Well, because its not fenced bewtween the two pastures. Got sick of dragging them on halter/leashes, if walking they may run away, or just eat all the yummy grass instead of getting going.

Bucket with yummies in it. A hand full of animal crackers or Fritos or raisins.

Train them to follow you!

go here and contact this guy.
http://dansberg.com/
mention what you want. I'll bet he can beat any price and it will be a good piece of equipment.
We bought a 2 hole milking stand from him and it was cheaper than anything else and very good quality.

I'll second the Bo-Peep approach though, it works for us.......

well I already ordered the headgate. We shall see if it works. Mainly the cart would be a secondary use, milkstand first. Some of my sheep are tame enough that I can do that bo peep approach, but some are not and they freak out on the way and run the wrong way. I only move them twice a year so really cant blame them. I only have 5 ewes.
