Disturbing news in the neighborhood....

some sick little #*&%)@#*%& are stealing the Amish goats, doing who knows what with them, slitting their throats and dropping them in fields and ditches around my neighborhood. I'm so mad! I have no love for our immediate local Amish, but taking these poor goaties, abusing them and killing them and then just discarding like garbage is just horrible.

The Amish by us (old order) won't call cops, but when I saw that little goat in the ditch this morning, it made me sick. I'm going to stop by our next door neighbor tonite after work and find out what I can. My husband is working on getting names of who's doing this as a buddy of his told my DH this and thinks he knows who it is. I hope I can find out and talk to the Sheriff tonite. I've been goatless for 8 months (after 8 years of having them) and just got two doelings again, I'd be devastated for my goats to disappear.

Guess these are guys that graduated in 2010 and are big into drugs, beat each other up and put on YouTube and do other stupid things. Who knows what they'd do next!

I would definitely talk to the sheriff. This is a community problem and when people start treating animals in such a way it can lead to human victims.

That is awful! I hope the cops can get whoever it is although I don't hold out much hope that they will really do anything to them. Seems like all they ever get it a smack on the wrist and they are let loose to do it again.

I would definately talk to the sherriff. Like others have said here, they may stop with just the amish folks goats.

I hope the amish will press charges after these hoodlums are caught or they may just walk away without a scratch! That would be a sad sad shame if they don't get some form of punishment after this.

I know the Amish won't press charges, it's against their beliefs. BUT, I did have someone give me two dairy goat bucklings in July, after all my Nigerians were gone, I was going to wether them for pets, but had my horse accident the next week, so we gave them as intact bucklings to the Amish neighbors to use as breeding bucks (not breeding quality boys, but waaaaay better than what they have!!) So I could fully describe both bucklings and just say I borrowed them out. I feel awful because I think the one I saw in the ditch is one of those boys, they were 2 weeks old when I got them and with Amish feeding them, wouldn't be very big yet even tho alpine/ober crosses.

Remind the police when you talk to them that animal abuse is the first step that some serial killers make in their progression towards killing humans. It may not help but if someone in your community dies then at least they will have the paperwork trail from this incident leading them back to these psychos. There is no excuse for killing these animals in this senseless way. These killers are insane and need to be stopped now before they can progress to torturing and killing people next. I'm so sorry that one of your own was killed.

I applaud your efforts to help your neighborhood. That is a great idea of giving your 2 bucklings to those Omish; then if anything happens to them, telling the Police they were on loan. I'm sure your're thinking ahead in doing this so "you" CAN file charges.

I agree with Olivia in that, when you tell the Police about the situation, you stress the point that such acts are often precursors to serial killing of "humans". I think I might go one step farther and ask the Police if they wanted that on their conscience.
