Questionable behavior?

We were out in the backyard today enjoying the weather and hanging out with the horses and the goats. Our Boer doe was sleeping in her favorite spot. She woke up and looked around, hopped out of her favorite spot(an empy water tank cage, yeah, she's weird) and started calling. She watched off into the woods at the back of the pasture and called and called and called. The other two goats were right there with her. But she called and just kept watching into the distance like she was waiting for someone to come. After a few minutes, she turns around to the other two and goes back to normal volume goat talk. They find new spots and lay back down to lounge around. A goat bad dream?

All the animals were accounted for, so it really puzzles me. Is this normal goat talk? I've had them for several months now, and normally they only call like that if they are missing a member of the herd, like when two are in the barn and one is freaking out because the rest have "dissapeared". LOL

I'm sure she saw something. I wish she could tell you what it was, and why she was calling.

I wish too. Because we were standing 5 feet from her and there is a hill between us and the woods. I'm thinking maybe she heard something? Because there was really nothing to be seen and she went from fully sleeping(eyes closed and head resting on her side) to up and calling. It was strange. I walked down the other side of the hill and into the woods, just to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

The buck was turned loose with the girls back in late August, so she shouldn't be due until mid-January at the very earliest(right?). I know sometimes pregnant animals will due odd stuff.

Anyway, she's back to acting normal and she hasn't done it again today. She even ventured down into the woods with the horses, so I guess it wasn't a predator or something too 'scary'.

Maybe she was dreaming that she had already had her babies and one of them was over the hill in the woods and she snapped awake thinking she needed to call it back.
