I had admired this guy "from afar" for awhile now, so when I found out he was up for sale... called yesterday, saw him today, bought him and brought him home today. He's still quite stinky and quite interested in the girls, yay! He's not quite 2 years old and already good size.
Draggin' Acres Hondo:
I love his blaze face! And his spots.
Meeting his harem - the does were pushing him around, who'd a thunk it? But then it's their stall and their territory so, maybe I shouldn't be surprised. He was kinda backed up and being timid:
He wasn't bottle fed but he's very well behaved on lead and for handling. The seller trimmed his feet and gave him Cydectin before we loaded him up and he stood on the lift calmly for both. He went in the crate that was just barely big enough for him in the back of my van with no trouble, and laid down chewing cud the whole 1.5 hour ride home with only a couple of low bleats, no fussing or freaking out. Once home and in the barn I gave the two does in milk their alfalfa pellets in the stall while he was in there. He tried to shove his nose in and take some, but when I pulled him back and said, "No," he backed off and DIDN'T TRY TO GET IN THE BUCKET AGAIN! I was floored, and very pleased at the same time.
Come late May I think we're going to have some very nice kids, he has some nice ones on the ground at his former home.
