Baby Fever

I have baby fever and it's getting worst every day. I'm to the point now where I can't stand it! Got my camera ready and bottles on standby. Need some babies around here and soon. I still have weeks to go before my girls kid, and I don't have patience to wait that long. HELP

Join the club. I have until March first before my first doe kids. Its driving me crazy waiting. Why can't goats be like cats and have their babies in a couple of months?

You must be new to goats. Just wait until you've been at it for a few more years and you'll start enjoying the time you have between kid care and milking and your next batch of kids. I use the time to catch up on sleep and get other non goat related things done around the house. Of course, living where I do, I really wouldn't want kids born yet. We're expecting a low of -18 one night this week and I'm really glad I don't have to be out there checking the does. My first is due Feb. 15 and I still may have lots of babies in the house due to the cold. I suppose if you need a "baby fix" you could find another breeder to go visit. I know there are alot of them, including a commercial dairy in the Houston area. When I just need to see baby goats, I visit my friend who usually has Boers due in January.

LOL, no I'm not new to goats. Raised Nigerians for about 10 yrs now, BUT that hasn't stopped me from getting baby fever each year. We just sold our farm and downsized in land and animals so I guess in order not to miss all the other animals I had to sell, I'm focusing on Kidding season extra hard this yr. I also have extra time on my hands now since I don't have near as many chores to do, so I'm looking forward to those bottle feedings more now than ever.
Thank goodness our winters are not to long and cold! Mostly we deal with lots of rain and mud in these parts.
