I KNOW they smile!! My border collie mix smiles AND she knows WHEN to smile. I ask her to smile and she'll put her head down a bit and put her lips up a bit. If I catch her doing something she shouldn't she'll put her head down a bit and smile at me. It's too funny. Here's a pic of her smiling.

our catahoula female had a peg leg in the back, so she walked funny. she had one eye so blue it was 'ice' colored. then, she'd smile so hard it'd make her sneeze! sooo, you got this spotted, limping and snorting and sneezing and smiling, but it looks like she's licking her lips ready to rip your throat out. ppl thought she was deranged! poor josie. all she wanted was love. well, ok, just a small taste of your ankles!
that goat is too cute. what kind is he? looks similar in color to our 'nilla wafer', an obie/saanen cross doeling who's the sweetest youngster we have.
