Goat crack is right!

I bought some raisins for my goats for a christmas treat, someone said that their goats love them and they are like crack for goats, well......

Mine had never had them before, they didnt even want to come near to snuff them and look at me like "Maaa, why are you trying to kill us with that stuff" or anything

Finally one came over slowly, I could see the conversation between the two - "You go first" "no you" "no you!" "chicken" "am not!" "are too!" "I dare you" I double dare you!" "I triple dog dare you!" "Thats not fair...sigh" - he snuffed the raisins I had in my hand and took one and was chewing on it, and suddenly his eyes lit up lol He gobbled the rest of them and was trying to get at the box in my hand, of course that intrigued the other guy so he came over, and I tried to give him some but it was hard keeping the other goat nose out of my hand , Im sure you know that feeling lol

Anyway, now they both know what the little red box means, and even if I dont have it, they start to dig in my pockets looking for it. I think I have made raisin junkies out of them

I always end up with hoof prints all over me when I go out with raisins.

Note to self: If you drop a raisin, don't try to find it and pick it up; chances are pretty good that ain't a raisin you just found.

It's funny mine hate them, not one of the 35 will eat them. I have broken them open, mixed them into things and they do not lke it. They spit them out. My goat's crack is animal crackers! They hear the bag and they will stampede me for them. Except one, he prefers saltines lol.

Goats are like people they can be food fussy and have preferences.

Some of mine will eat rasins, some prefer animal crackers. My main buck who will eat almost anything LOVES Good-N-Plenty candy (or anything that tastes like it). The worst part is nobody wants to share..it's hard to give out anything when in the middle of 20+ goats.

That's funny you mention Good-n-plenty because mine love it too, along with black twizzlers. I guess that's why they flavor some goat treats like licorice.

The winter means fruit salad time here:
Everyday we mix up..
Dried fruit mix.... no nuts or chocolate
unsweetened coconut
Raisins... the mix has none
Cut up apple
cut up grapefruit...peel and all
cut up orange ...peel and all
few marshmallows
grated carrots
animal crackers for topping

Goat crack is grated sweet potatoes and any squash

All of my goats (except ONE)...AND the horses, know the crinkly sound of a peppermint candy being unwrapped...and God help you if you are not on stable footing. You will DIE.

The one goat, Gretta, who is far too noble for peppermint candies will, however, lose all dignity and *climb you* for a peanut butter sandwich.

Really?!!! How very cool. My husband likes to eat bananas.

Thanks for the warning about the raisins. I have nigerian dwarfs and I brace myself before entering the pen with anything that might be edible. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to offer treats

Mine HATE carrots. I think if I mixed up that fruit salad and gave it to them, that they would find me in the spring under the bedding somewhere, trampled to death from them trying to get it from me lol I bet they would go wild for it

Haaarrr harrr YOU must get at least two, cause they are herd animals... well three is better. Plus if you get to the farm and have pick out your three goaties or two or more others are just toooo cute to leave behind, well go ahead and get them too.

Carry a trailer to the farm and a camera. YOUR goats' pictures MUST be posted on HT. Oh, look first for LaMancha 'cause they belong to the absolute best breed. Paul

No (get a goat), you don't have to (get a goat) get a goat. You can (get a goat) live (get two goats) without them (get three goats).
