Too late to breed?

I have been offered a free 3 year old dry nubian doe. Apparently she comes from decent dairy lines and is registerable, but has not been registered or bred. Right now she is being kept as a pet, but they have paperwork for her. I am in Massachusetts with my family for Christmas, so I wouldn't be able to bring her home until probably the 28th of December. I have a nubian buck at home who I've used to breed my other 3 does this year. I am wondering what the chances are that I would still be able to breed her at that point to kid in late May. I know there's no way to tell for sure since I know nothing about her heat cycles, when they started, etc. What do you all think? Would it be worth it?

Yes. When you get her home, give her a BoSe shot and a copper bolus.

Sounds worth it to me! I would try to breed her to a registered buck, and in the months that she is pregnant, get her registered so you can have registered kids. Good luck! Sounds like it could turn out quite nicely!

In addition to what Alice said about the BoSe & copper bolusing, get her wormed as soon as she's home too.
I bet your buck will bring her into heat.

We don't breed our does until the end of December or beginning of January. We would rather have kids born in May during the warmer months than in the cold winter months. I actually am waiting on a doe that looks as though she will kid soon.. Guess when they want to bred they do..I don't know how they do it since Bucky isn't kept with the girls so who knows?? Guess where there is a will..there is a way..

Ugh...false alarm. I guess I'm not the only person she contacted about giving the doe away, and someone else got there first. Oh well...
