The old girl kidded
Despite the condition the Boer doe was in when she arrived last April, she was apparently mended enough to breed in June. This was our only chance to save the Dillon bloodline, so I really hoped for at least one buckling out of this doe. Our luck this year has been a little rough so the results were about par for the course. She gave us a pair of doelings Monday afternoon. They are both healthy, and she's an excellent mom, so I reckon I'll just be tickled over that and call it a day. The doe's multiple teat issue is no longer an issue, as there are four that are fully functional... the doelings both show four at this point, but I'm not sure when/if others might develop later. I'd post photos but I can't figure out how.

Congrats! LoL most of us hope for twin doelings instead of a buckling or two.
The girls will probably stay doubled teated, not grown more teats. I have seen double teats in quite a few Boer does. But the one I had had two working teats and the two extras were small and did not work.
I thought you had photobucket and had posted pictures? Anyway sign up for photbucket if you do not have it.
Upload your pictures.
Save them to your album if it does not do it automatically.
Hover over the picture you want, 4 links will appear under the picture then copy the last link.
Then paste it here in your post.
You can preview your post to make sure it went through before you submit it.

Hi Wingdo,
I would call you lucky! Her bloodlines will still be passed down through her daughters...
Good to hear from you,
SBJ

Wingdo, on Photobucket, it gives you the "share" option. Copy and paste the "share" URL for Web and E-mail, and instead of surrounding it with the [*URL] link [*/URL] commands, it should have . Check it in your post preview.

Reason: Had to add astericks to the URL commands so it would show up instead of thinking it was a real link.

Thanks guys... We felt lucky that the Dillon buckling actually did something for the place before he left, although we didn't know for sure until about 3 weeks ago. I had assumed he died before even having a chance to breed.
The "wooden" house was sold a chicken coop, used as a hunting blind, then a goat house, and then the interior was finished for their children to play in... it now sits on 4 posts about 20 feet off the ground and their kids camp in it... who'd have ever figured?
BTW, I'm going to upload a couple of chicken photos. Anyone want to tell me what breed they might represent? They were a gift to our grand-girls a few months back, were a bit overpriced ($50 a pair), but the man that bought them didn't write down what breed they were. I have no idea, other than a black rose-comb, but that is my only guess on bantam birds. I do know the one little hen is a 6 year old OEGB named sweetpea.

D'Anvers? I recently bought a pair to keep a lonely little annoying sex link company. They weren't $50 each but they are tiny cute and friendly but of course not to the lonely chick but to me, so now Ihave 3 crazy chickens who follow me all over the place and I have to avoid stepping on or tripping over...sigh.
I bet Cyng would know what they are. She is chicken smart
