Gotta ask Nubian owners

Now that I have my first Nubian ~Pawnee~, have any nubi owners ever come up with an "ear socks" to keep those wonderfully long ears warm LOL

I know, I know, probable not necessary but her ears are so cute I would hate if they got frostbite...

Ear warmers like the old style leg warmers...anyone make any?

I've never heard of their ears getting frostbit except newborn babies.

They have a lot of circulation in their ears, so long as their body stays warm, they are out of wind and rain and have good hay they'll be fine. If they are particularly fine coated and it's quite cold, a sweater will work. So long as their body is warm they will keep their ears warm.

Our Nubes have been through -50F without any ear troubles. It's a non-issue as long as they are dry and have a place out of the wind.

I actually made some ear warmers; but have never used them for one reason .. the water buckets would get them wet! (My concern about their beautiful ears is their getting them into the ice water when drinking.)

That is an important consideration. Something absorbent on the ears would hold cold water to the ears and make them colder.

My goat girls don't like anything on their ears. I think that might drive them crazy LOL! Ours haven't had any trouble with frostbite and it gets pretty cold here. Heh They would look cute though :P

True about the water, poor basset hounds have that problem.
Cute yes lol maybe with bells at the end, but I won't do that to poor Pawnee. Hmmm if I find some I might put on just long enough to take a pic ;P

Never a frostbit ear on my Nubians, except newborn bucklings that I missed their birth.

No, she really doesn't need ear socks - but I would love to see a picture of her, with or without ear socks!

we have a kind of turtle neck we put on dogs with long ears is the show ring. Such as Cockers or bassetts. This is used to keep their ears dry befor they enter the ring. Not for warmth. We used it on the cockers at home as well. the long hair got mangled pretty good from the water bowls. And they looked so cute and angelic. I have to find a pic. But if it was necessary, like with an injury, the goats can probly deal with that. My girls ears were always fine. Keep the bodies warm and the rest will stay warm too.
