Why doesn't this buck seem interested???

I have a nigerian buck here visiting my girls who need bred. At first, I had him running with the does but yesterday my snubian was in heat. Flagging tail like crazy for two days in a row. She was rubbing up against him and everything but he just didn't seem very intersted. So, I put up a couple hog panels and encolsed a small area for him and a doe in heat. I am thinking he didn't like being around all the other does or something. I just don't see him SUPER intersted EVER! A month or so ago I saw him actually trying to mount my one year old LaMancha but other than that nothing. The girls will hang around him and rub up against him with a flagging tail but he just doesn't try. Is there something I can do to help him along? Could they be doing it at night and I am missing it? How can I make him more interested? I'm frustrated

Or if the does are aggressive or were in his past he might have learned to leave them alone. The pecking order can be quite strict.

He's never been with these does before. They are also not very aggressive, pretty laid back in fact. I would say though, that I was just assuming he's given up because he can't reach. He's has a bunch of stumps to get up on. Do bucks do that? Would they just give up?

I have a very small Nigerian buck.... he has bred with all my does except for one becasue she was to big, he just gave up.... We tried a couple of time getting him up on something then holding her... it didn't work. This year we got it to work (we are almost positive) . We had partial hay bale, that was about 6 inches off the ground, we made sure that he was ready for her (kept him in a seperate pen, so they could sniff each other. Then when she was ready we took a food bucket kept her occupied with the feed, and guided him to the partial bale he got up on it and BINGO !!! We did it a few times, until we were sure of penetration.
I think a stump might be hard for him to balance on. Try something else so he can reach the girls

You can also get the doe to lay down so he can reach. Our doe's do this on their own so we don't have to help. With goats that want to be bred, where there's a will, there's a way.

The first year we bred our herd buck (now over 250 lbs) he was less than a year old and our does were all large Nubians. We found him very creative in getting the job done in that he would stand on the highest part of a slope (even on our retainer wall once), which permitted him better access.

I would suggest placing a few (several tied together well) "bedding" bales of stray placed around in the pen for him to make use of.
