NIgerian Dwarfs in South Florida

Hello all, im am new to the world o' Goats, along with my wife. We are in the process of aquiring 3 acres in Palm Beach County, Florida, and are learning about Goats (along with other livestock). The wife has been buying goat milk for cheese, soaps and the like from a local lady, and we are looking forward to our own. So, she wants Nigerian Dwarfs...cute and, I read, good milk.

So, anyone in the area, or does anyone know of fellow South Floridians, who have these? Advice? warnings? Ideas? We are hoping to start this new leg of our lives in the next couple months (god willing and all the chips fall into place).

Thanks for you time!

You might look in the Florida Market Bulletin. It is available online. Sorry I don't have the link ,but look at it all the time, it helps with being homesick. I now live in the mountains of Montana and long for the flatland and orange blossoms of home.

adga and ags have a list of breeders online. I dont know of anyone but the people I know do not show down there because of the states strict TB testing which isnt even a goat thing.
If nothing else, contact Rust Repp from Little tots estates, not only is he a breeder but also a judge so he may can put you in the right direction.

Nessie's Nanas used to post a lot, but she and I have fallen out of touch. Welcome to Palm Beach County. Doubtless you will find a worm in Paradise. Make sure your zoning is Agricultural as PBC forbids agricultural animals in all n on-ag areas.
I live in a small city in PB County and never come on to the Goat forum, this was a total coincidence coming on and seeing your post. You might also try contacting the Mounts Agricultural Center which is the extension service for the county.

Thank Grandmotherbear: I live in PBC now, and we are moving from North Palm Beach to Jupiter Farms. The reason: no animals, not even chickens, and our lifestyle, where we feel the country is heading and business is taking us in a different direction as far as living go..all for the best, to be sure! Love South Florida! Having grown up in Missouri, then living in NC (both beautiful places), Florida is wonderful for many-a-reason.

St. Cloud is doable for us...

Any reason they are not more popular around the area?
