I've missed y'all!! My life, updated.

Okay.......life has slowed down a fragment. I might actually have time to be online once or twice a week, maybe more!

All does and doelings are bred now, most past their chance to come back in heat, so now I need a new calendar. Getting due dates written on the next years calendar is always the start of kid fever for me. I am excited about this coming years kids, after seeing Camaro and Eclipses first daughters freshen this year. Also really looking forward to Erics first daughters freshening in January. They look really nice so far! My does are starting to "sing" to themselves at night while sleeping. I just love that sound.

Calving season is wrapping up, only 11 cows and one heifer to go. We are not freshening nearly as many cows this year due to having to sell 20+ cows to pay the feedbills while we were forced to dump our milk. Now we are shipping grade A milk, the cows are paying their own feed and haybills again. Been blessed with many healthy heifers this year. Hoping to retain most of them to start building our herd back. No twins yet this year......

We've been working on getting our mud/wood/stove room fixed up for winter. Its been an eyesore ever since we've moved in and the floor joist collapsing and the roof springing a leak has forced us to fix it for real this fall. So far we have fixed the roof, fixed the floor, drywalled the walls and put on the first coat of paint. We've ripped out the horrible filthy old red carpet that has been there from before we moved in, and I have a green roll of carpet all ready to put down. Now for another coat of paint, the trim board and the carpet! After that we can bring our woodstove back in and start a fire for these cool nights. Its been below freezing a few nights and its been COLD in our trailer!

We broke down and got ten guineas this fall. They are summer babies, so just young ones. I love to look at guineas, but I hate trying to out-yell them anytime I need to talk to someone across the yard. They always have to prove that they can yell louder. But......after the past three years of ridiculous amounts of ticks in my yard......I'll take the yelling over the guineas to the picking off of hundreds of ticks a day!

Other things have happened since I was last here, but I can't remember them all. Oh yeah, four weddings this fall and I am about weddinged out........

Thanks to all for the support and prayers through the difficult time our family farm is having right now. I have been blown away by all the support.

I'm so glad you're back! You've certainly been missed!

I'm glad your cows are paying their own bills again, too. I hate the situation you all have been put in/through! I'm praying for you guys!

Sounds like you've had a really productive fall so far! It is so exciting to be expecting new little four legged critters running around. I bet the weddings were exciting, too! That is a lot of weddings for one season! Congratulations on the renovations/new stove. I've always wanted a wood burning stove. I'm jealous!

Welcome back!

Glad to have you back! I know what you mean about guineas!! I've also heard Muskovy ducks are good for ticks, but are a bit messier that guineas. I love to watch them chase each other during breeding season.

We sure have missed you Emily! Will keep doing what we can as far as the uncheese party. Sure hope it makes a difference!
So glad your back & hope everything on your farm is back to normal as soon as all this is over. Staying busy sure helps take your mind off things but get on here when you can, we all understand.

I heard about the goings-on with your farm off of Facebook, not here on Homesteading Today. I didn't realize until last week it was you.

I do hope things are looking up for you and your farm. What you have gone through is a tragic injustice.

Looks like we need to "bump" and update here, then.

BoldViolet, did you find out through the Uncheese Party on FB?

If I recall correctly, the FRESH page posted an article, which linked to the UnCheese Party webpage.
