Here she is. My fat doe Ginger! She is now on a diet. I thought she was on a diet before with only 1/4 cup grain a.m. & p.m. plus Hay & browse & LOOK!!

looks like a normal pygme to me lol, she does have a bit more padding on her hips and ribs but she isnt bad, she would do just fine on Hay and Brows, but she really doesnt look that fat for a Pygme
|

They do look pretty similar I think too!
Ravenlost, she has never been this big before unless she was pregnant, but no she's not pregnant. She just come out of heat again. It's like clock work every 3 weeks. Wanted to breed her in November with her next heat but I worry about all the extra weight she's already carrying!

The pictures are perfect! What a pretty girl she is  I'm wondering if she is getting fluffy for winter. Plus has the type of figure that looks rounded. Like Gretta

I don't think she's overweight. Belly is NO indication of fatness, and the bigger the belly the better. The big belly is a sign that the stomach is functioning well, which is great.
If she's not producing, though, the grain is unnecessary. A good hay is all she'll need.

Sorry Backfourty, but she is fat :1pig: honestly though, I actually don't think her belly is too bad, but you can definitely see that extra padding over the shoulders, across the back and the rump.
Judging from the picture only and without being able to get my hands on her, she does remind me a bit of the old style ND's that were a bit more heavy boned, which is probably why some confused her with a pygmy.
I'd go ahead and breed her  but just don't give her any grain until the last few weeks of pregnancy.

A big healthy hay belly would be protrusion from lower down on her sides so you would still see a bit of a dip below the spine (on either side of the spine), she is more barrel shaped, which would be an indication of excess weight IMO. You can really see it in the first photo.

Her neck is globby fat - lol! That is just my opinion, but I have a Nubian, as I showed photos of, that is about as fat!

Thanks everyone, She is on a diet now. Still gets all the hay she wants & has been eating alot of browse, leaves galore right now so I hope that doesn't add to the weight.
She has never been fat before this last set of kids. It's like she just never lost the baby weight.
jordan, I get my hands on her & I know what you mean. I feel padding everywhere instead of any bone.

awww man don't feel bad backforty my ND doe that kidded 2 months ago is still retaining her "baby" fat. She looks allot like your girl structure wise. Even had some visitors by and they said "what a fat little goat" (grumbles) Same people commented on how skinny my full Saanen looks (geesh)! Maybe your girl could lose a few but she looks good and ready for winter.

This is my full-sized Alpine doe, Cayenne. She is FAT. the bulge of blubber behind her elbow and the size of her chest (all blubber) tells me so!
If she were in milk, I'd be delighted, but since she's not, and she's only eating browse, free-choice grass hay, and a handful of BOSS 2x per day, I've decided she's getting fat on air.....
