What a pain in the rear - bucks loose

Came home - not sure when the bucks got loose, might have been 10 minutes, might have been hours - they were in there with the girls. Now the girls were all bedded down and had no interest, but the boys were. . .lol.

If the girls do not seem in heat. . .do I still need to be thinking lute?

ROFL that certainly can occur. Now there's no way to know which buck bred which doe; but all were apparently happy with their new situation.

I had a similar occurrance yesterday morning about half an hour after I had given everyone their grain. I was replacing the rotted cedar "corner" post with a treated post when I heard my youngest buck (I have 2..father and son.) yelling at me from across our "parameter" fencing. He was wanting back into the homestead but was wanting on his sire's side, probably so he could compete with daddy. ROFL Anyway, David walk around back of his (and his doe's) housing and found where he had crossed a creek bed. A little grain rattling in his pan and our "yip yip yip" call and here he comes. Needless to say he is now locked into his own pen (with his doe of course) and won't get out until we can find a way to fix his exit point.

I've been having the same problem with one of our bucks over the last month or so. The little bugger just finds more ways out & BOY can He JUMP! So far all my girls asre still coming into heat so I'm sure he's not got any yet.
I will start breeding all mine with their next heats in November though.

Creamers do you not want any of them bred yet or why would you want to lute? Unless it's too early to breed them, there too young, etc.
If they all seem pretty content, most likely no one was in heat today. My buck doesn't care if someone's in heat or not he just wants in with the girls.

Oh, I should have been more clear - I don't want these Nubians does bred to the bucks that were out. One is our Nigerian and the other isn't a buck I'd want to breed my nice does to. Also, some are just too small for breeding at this point.

I am taking - or planned to take - the two Nubian doelings that are large enough to breed to 2 nice CH buck locally next month.

No one seemed in heat, but this will through everything off if I need to lute them and ugh . . .what am ess.

When in a gestation is too late to lute?

I was just going to ask the same thing Pony just asked? They will be sticky, etc back there & on there tail usually.
If not your probly pretty safe not using the lute.

Our pain in the rear buck was out again yesterday but he was only on the outside of the girls pasture singing to them. I'll be glad when it's time & all mine are bred so he can calm down!

I'd probably lute them regardless, especially if I thought the buck was too big for the doe or had specific plans for the kids. Not all does show signs of being in heat & some bucks are shy or breed only at night. The bucks had companionship so thinking there was a very strong urge to be with the girls.
