Kidz - We Haz Dem!

This morning, Muffin didn't want to eat, and she had a bit of goo hanging down. Not like the big, thick, ropey goo of imminent kidding, just some thick amber-colored stuff.

Hm.

No ligaments.

No appetite.

Thank God Nick is home today! He did the morning errands in town, just in case. I really didn't think she was going to go today...

She did.

REALLY surprised me when I went out to check her at 10:15 and one kid was already on the ground. (Good thing I put her into the kidding shed!)

Number two came out shortly after, but the third kid was a bit reluctant. Went in to find two feet, no head.

Felt around.

No head.

Realized that the two feet were BACK feet, gave a little tug on the next contraction, and we had the last one out.

Final score: Two doelings, one buckling, all three adorable, and pix are uploading as I type.

Remind me that the kids will eventually figure out how to work those teats, please.

Muffin has some gargantuan spigots on her; I milked out some colostrum to get into the kids b/c they didn't figure it out after the first hour (and Muffin - not intentionally, of course - was sort of standing on them a bit).

They sucked down the bottle (NO FIGHTS over the Pritchard nipples!), and now they do seem to have the idea of WHERE the milk is; they just seem to be having difficulty getting those fire-hose teats into their mouths.

And, well... Muffin is still sort of clumsy and has stepped on them once or twice more.

We did put a barrel out there for the kids, but we're going to have to put a board or some such in the bottom, as the three little kids seem to be as light on their hooves as their dam. <sigh>

Gonna go play with them again! (wish I didn't have this miserable headache...)

How sweet. Muffin looks as if she is smiling and saying "see what I did!" I will take all three. They just fit the colors of my herd. Congrats!

Oh My Goodness! They are all little doll babies! I'm sure they will get the hang of those big firehoses before you know it. I think all babies are clumsy at first when it comes to suckling from momma. I am a bit of a worrier myself & couldn't tell you how many times or for how long I stay in the barn with new babies & momma making sure I think they got enough to eat.

Too cute, I want the chocolate one, which is most likely a boy they make themselves so cute so you won't eat or sell them, lol.

Yes the babies will become less stupid as they get more hungry. I have had some sucking on their mom's fur or even a wattle instead of a teat, little dorks!

Congrats on the new ones.
