Question Bo-Se dosage (for pygmies) & few questions.

Hi all. My aunt bought some very unthrifty looking pygmy doelings about 2 weeks ago.

They wormed them with Ivermectin Plus and I was going to drive out to her house today to give them a Bo-Se shot and possibly try to copper bolus them as well (if anything I figure its a great practice run for me to try out before I bring my girls home, lol). They are 4 1/2 months old. The girls have been eating goat pellets, hay and sheep/goat minerals and haven't nursed since they were 2 months old (the breeder said the mother was attacked & killed by a dog). I bought a bag of the Right Now Onyx and I'm going to take a gallon zip lock bag over to my aunt as well since I highly doubt they're getting what they need from a sheep/goat mineral.

My Blackberry is being a pain today and I can not find my saved info on dosage for Bo-Se. Anyone know how much per lb? They "guesstimate" the girls are about 15-20lbs each, but I'll weigh them before I give them anything.

Thanks in advance!

Best Wishes,
Crystal

sheep/goat mineral.
That is an oxymoron, for sure. I'm glad she has you
to explain what they need, and it sounds like you're
right on.

Bo-SE is 1c per 40lb SQ

Thanks!

My aunt is impulsive to say the least. She had been hanging out at my house while my mom & I worked on the barn and such so she was subjected to a lot of "goat chatter". She mentioned that she too wanted to get goats, so I gave her this website, along with Dairygoatinfo and told her once she decided on a breed that she liked best I'd help her look around for a breeder...

Two days later, no research done at all, she texts me a picture of 2 lil goats. They're pygmy does, kind of wild, not disbudded and only had 1 CDT vaccine and nothing else! The breeder sold her a nice story about Pygmies being the top producing mini dairy goat and passed on her management advice, which my aunt has been following to a "T". So....my mom & I are doing our best to help her make the best of the situation and get the girls in shape. She's also got a "pygmy" buck that she picked up at the flea market...he's 2 yrs old, sweet but HUGE (least for a pygmy...I'm 5'6 and his back is only about 4" from my hip) He's also got horns, but at least he appears to have been better cared for and even has trim, pretty feet. She plans to use him as her breeding buck, but he's so big and those does are TINY (I know they still have to grow but I can't picture them getting anywhere close to his size).

Anywho...going to go out on Friday and give Bo-Se, attempt to copper bolus and I'm going to see if there is anyway she can get a fecal into the vet to see where she stands as far as parasites.

Do you think we should give them a round of Corid (or Albon) since they have never had anything for coccidia?

Thanks again!

Best Wishes,
Crystal

I'd feed a medicated pellet and do a cycle of Sulmet or Dimethoxx at least 2 or 3 times over the course of the next 3 months
