Then and Now

I was talking with a friend and camparing my goats from when they arrived and now and I realized what a difference there was, especially for the first two. How much Lacey has improved and how nicely Hershey has matured.

Lacey when she came home

And Lacey now

Hershey when she arrived

Then and Now - Goats

Tally when she arrived

Then and Now - Goats

Yep, Bo-Se shots and Copper Bolusing did some major things to them all. As well as a good loose mineral a small amount of grain and free choice alfalfa pellets.

Thank you for the compliments on them. I am very pleased with the way they are turning out.

I absolutely love my Manchas.

If I hadn't watched the transformation myself, I'm not sure I would would believe they are the same goat. Well, Tally hasn't changed that much but Lacey especially has changed a ton.

I remember when she first got here, we were having to switch from Nubians due to being in town and the noise factor. Our Nubian babies had been so sleek and pretty and then we sold one of them and Lacey came to us as our first La Mancha and at first we were rather disappointed as we stood there and looked the thin, narrow, scraggly Lacey. It was her personality that won us over. She is an incredible goat. Then we sold the second Nubian and Hershey came to us a later that same evening. Her breeder is a good lady who was still in the learning curve and Hershey was weaned a bit early and needed cocci treatment. But we got her through that and it was well worth the effort because she is turning into a gorgeous little doe. Again, her personality is awsome. Then Tally came and she is very much a mischief maker. She didn't need anything other than minerals.

The La Mancha has become my absolute favorite breed.

Bo-Se and copper boluses rock. It is amazing how much it helps them.

Oat Bucket Farm, would you mind if I used these photos and linked to your website and blog on my website to show buyers WHY one should always bo-se, copper bolus and use a proper mineral?
They are really priceless photos.

PM me, please

Sure, I don't mind. This is the first year I myself have used Bo-Se and copper bolusing and it sure made a believer out of me.

thanks! I think it will be very helpful to those who wonder if it is really just over the top nonsense - which it seems many do.

Definitely not over the top non-sense. Copper bolusing seemed rather intimidating before we did it. Afterwards we were trying to figure out what we had been worried about. Tally managed to comp one of her boluses the first time and the sky didn't come crashing down, she didn't drop dead at our feet, and we realized that way worse things could happen in the goat worls besides a dropped or chomped bolus.

Thanks!

Wow!! Great pics! And I must tell you now...your pictures may have done some damage!!

Originally I wrote of Lamanchas because I just wasn't keen on the ears (or virtual lack of) but your babies are so pretty!!! Wonder if hubby would let me have one?? LOL I would say I'd slip one out with the others and he'd never notice, but I think the unique ear thing would clue him in...hahaha

Best Wishes,
Crystal

Wow. Okay that's it, you've convinced me... today is copper bolus day. I got my order from Whitney (thanks Whitney!! ) and have been busy and putting it off. Today is the day.

Lovely lovely goats you have there.

You won't regret it, Sonja. In a few weeks, you'll wonder what kept you from doing this in the first place! Have at it!

I didn't used to think I would like them because of the lack of ears thing. Now I find their tiny little ears quite endearing and actually like the look better than the full eared look. Now Some La Manchas can have rather large blocky heads and I like the finer heads that my girls have. Tally and Hershey are both PB but Lacey is actually a Nu Manchapine. Her mother was PB La Mancha, and her father was 3/4 Nubian 1/4 Alpine.

You won't regret it. My girls have made me copper bolus convert for life. I got my boluses from Whitney too. I need to order more.
