Videos from todays auction

Would love to hear feedback on the animals. They actually had some nice looking ones there but I couldnt post all of the vids. Here are two with mostly Boers. Most of the milkers had lopsided udders, I noticed.

Kidron is usually a little cheaper, from my experience, but not nearly as many goats. I got a boer cross doe from mt hope last march and she is due next week.

Most of the meat goats were going between 80 and 190, with milkers averaging around 50+. The cheapest I saw were a few in the 35 range - small pygmies and few skinny little young mixes.

Brings back sad memories for me. I sat up there in that booth next to the auctioneer 3 years ago this past January.
We ran a full herd of Jersey dairy cows/calves and a bull through there for the School.
The second one was scouring pretty badly from the video. There was one with hoof rot. The red and white buck was nice. There were some well fleshed and cared for animals that went through. And some obviously in rut awhile.
Buying through a sale barn is not really the way to start a clean herd. Especially here in Ohio. CL is pretty rampant in the meat herds. Not all mind you, since we don't have it, but I have seen a number of local meat herds where they do not know and/or do not care.
If you were trying to get an idea for prices when you go to sell meat animals, we've been doing nicely at Eighty-Four in PA. We are south of you a fair piece though.

Thank you for the info Dost. Yes it was just a visit to see what what was there and prices. I would never buy there. I did notice a lot of the meat goats appeared lame - is that how you could tell they had foot rot from the vid? Im not sure how to tell from a distance they had scours. I could see from a distance that that huge buck at the end of vid 1 was in desperate need of a foot trim. (i think he was the red banded or paint)

Anyhoo, always learning...

It was either the third or fourth Boer buck that went through I think where I noticed the limping. He ran with a hitch in his giddyup. Left hind leg, I believe it was.
Hoof rot has been bad this year since it has been wetter than normal. We normally have not seen much but most of the bucks have been battling it and we've had more kids this year than normal with. Mind I am talking about maybe 12 goats out of 200+ goats that have hoof rot.
The ones that do have some bad cases of it this year though.
The second buck (Togg or Alpine) had a tail that looked wet. From what I could see, especially considering his shape, it looked like he was probably scouring.
I could not see much of the hooves in the videos. Our monitor is a bit darker, so I don't see everything.
