Digital scales weights vs Dairy Weigh tape

Back when I posted about my digital scales(the VS 660 that I love!), someone mentioned comparing the weights from the digital scales with the weigh tape.
I weighed the dairy doelings again today and then I used the dairy goat weight tape on them. I cannot compare the meat goat weights and tape as I no longer breed Boers.

Here are the 2010 dairy doeling weights by scales and by weight tape:

Legacy-#87 by scale-#93 by weight tape.

Honey-#95 by scale-#101 by weight tape.

Image-#93 by scale-#101 by weight tape.

Spritzer-#74 by scale-#84 by weight tape.

Darla-#100 by scale-#110 by weight tape.

Zambia-#97 by scale-#101 by weight tape.

Lady-#104 by scale-#110 by weight tape.

Ruby-#95 by scale-#101 by weight tape.

So, there is a significant difference. And at least with my babies, the weight tape always overestimated. I'm sure everybody handles the tape slightly different, but I was as careful as I could be.
I did find out that Zambias breast bone is a very touchy spt. Each time I tried to run the weight tape under her, she collapsed onto her chest and lay on it.........
Hopes this helps.

Looks like the tape may be anywhere from 6 to 10 lbs over. Did you use an actual weight tape or did you use a regular measuring tape?

You're very welcome. I needed to do it for my own peace of mind too. People are always asking me how accurate those weight tapes are, and I can now tell them something at least!
The doelings weren't too sure they liked it though. I turned them out in the yard so I could weigh them. So of course they had great fun pretending to spook at anything new. Never knew 8 doelings could sound so loud pounding across my dry hard yard.
