Help Paralyzed

My neighbor has a 1 year old female Boer goat. She has a rear leg that she is dragging. She seemed health and she is eating good and bathroom habits seem fine. Can't find any info on anything that can explain her leg having paralysis. Anyone have any ideas? She is a loving thing and I wish I could help.

Most common cause is deer worm or maningia worm. Though it can be an injury I would deworm her like yesterday with ivomect or ivermectin, safeguard in high enough doses is effective too. If you can have banamine on hand when treating her, either shell get better or youll know something mechanical is wrong.

Might be a disease like listeriosis or or Polio in the beginning stages. It wouldn't hurt to give her fortified vitamin B complex. Or like CF suggested, deer worm. I hope you ge to the bottom of it, nd soon.

Sounds like the M-worm or Polio or Listeriosis, as mentioned above.

You need Thiamine in RX form - use Vt B complex until you can get it (MUST get the RX form ASAP though) and give injections and give Ivomec Plus ASAP. . .do not delay - acting quickly is very important. Also, give a Tet. Antitoxin shot.

The following is from dairygoatinfo.com....
Is she dragging her toes in the rear on either leg when she walks? That was the first symptom both times I had meningeal worm. The doe, and the buck here, were just off, I honestly thought they were foundering, but no heat in the feet. It was more like their hip joints hurt, like a breeding injury. About a week later they went down.

Ivermectin Plus, a big oral or subq dose; banamine at 1cc per100 pounds no more than 6 day;s and Dex., 1cc per 100 pounds day 1 thru 3, 1/2 per 100 days 4 through 6.
