Goats and fleas

Hullo folks. Quick question for ya. I recently picked up some Nubian goats to start my herd. Well, last night when I went to the barn to check on them, I got attacked by fleas when I stepped into their stable (I have an old barn with a bunch of horse stables that I put them in @ night). My question is, what is safe to use on goats and around the barn to kill the fleas, or to diminish their numbers at the least? I tried doing some searching on the internet, but didn't find a good answer. Thanks!

Python dust
The fleas may be from another source:rats, feral cats, armadillos, etc.
But I'd dust the floors and the walls.
We had a terrible time with fleas when we moved in here. The place had been unoccupied fro several months.

Red cedar chips are a natural pest deterrent - flea, flies, mosquitos, etc. The oil can irritate some animal's skin, however. I usually bed with pine and then add a 1/3 of a bag of red cedar.

Diatamaceous Earth (DE). Buy Food Grade. Sprinkle it around and put it on the animals. Might want to use a mask if you have very much space to cover so that you don't enhale too much. The "dust" is very fine. Works great!!!!! Look DE up on the internet and you will be amazed at all of the things that you can use it for. We use it and can testify that it really does what they say it will do.
