update on kid

Hey all well my lil buck will be 3 weeks old this Sunday and he is still basically blind. He seems to have gained slight vision in his left eye but he is struggling mom lets him feed a little but seems to push him off. he is a fighter but not sure what I want/need to do. He swings his head like Stevei Ray. I'm sad and torn he'll sit in my lap and just lay there. What would you do? It's already 3 weeks and he is just barely surviving. Thanks JIL

I really don't know what to say... except I would start him on the basics.... Vit. B shot, start on antibiotic. It may be that he was just born blind, and the head bobbing is just his way to get around?

he's been given antibiotics and also the goat stuff with vit b's I've also started supplementing mom with sav a kid milk replacer. I was told I shoulda kept hands off and let nature take it's course....
Edit to add that I've giving the baby the replacer

Replacer is not good. If you are going to keep him going, use whole cow milk from the store.

Honestly, I'd put him down.

No, it's not easy.

Sorry.

What goat stuff do you speak of? Vit B complex? or something else

Replacer can make things worse, better is to mix goats milk with Vit D Whole milk if you need more than the doe can produce.

At three weeks I can not keep a kid on my lap for long, they are little wound up springs. Sounds like something else is going on.

Can you hold mom or put her on the milk stand for the little guy to nurse? Otherwise if you want to feed him & try & save him I would bottle feed him with whole milk from the store, not replacer.

Have you tried the terramycin opthamalic eye ointment just in case that will help? It won't hurt him even if it doesn't clear it up his sight problems.

I knew there had to be an eye ointment thanks I will try But I think he has a lot more issues than just the vision. His back seems not right (kinda humped like) the last couple of days. I am trying to get past the emotions and cull him it's really hard cause he is so cute and gentle. thanks ya'll
