OT I have some non-goat babies today

Not goats but I don't know the poultry forum too well so I thought I would post these here were all my friends are
Since I took these pictures 4 more have hatched so I'll have to update. I decided to raise this batch myself because I want them to be more friendly. They are already eating out of my hand

Awww, so cute!

I have Silkie eggs in the 'bator. What breeds are those? Oh, and they will "impress" upon basically the first thing they see. If their first interactions are with your hand, they will follow your hand around.

I have a Soochie that will STILL follow my hand.

I think they are little Banties. I really don't know anything about chickens...I just like having them around. We like to keep it around 10 and we went from 13 to 21 today so far! We eat the eggs and give a lot of eggs away because we always have too many.

They are adorable! Did you hatch them in an incubator or have one of your hen's do it?

I hatched 14 chicks for a farmer friend this spring & 8 of my duck egg's, they were all so cute. I gave all the ducks away & gave the farmer his chicks.

Now I have 8 wild mallards in a pen till they get big enough to fly & fend for themselves that I hatched in the incubator as the nest was in a farmers hay feild.

Okay. Chickens! Now that's a topic I DO know something about. Are your hens bantys? What's your roo made of? Looks from the outset that you have a couple of different breeds or crosses going on there.

You may tire quickly of the paper towel routine and wish to switch to pine shaving or other bedding material. (Avoid using newspaper. To a chick, newspaper is slippery and is difficult to walk on. A newspaper surface can cause "splay leg" - a condition where the chick's legs don't grow under it correctly to support the body, but instead grow outward, or spraddled). If the chicks peep A LOT, they're cold. Lower the lamp. If they're as far away from the heat source as possible, the environment is too hot. Raise the lamp. Don't feed green stuff for a while yet until they have grit. Chick feed works fine.

As for what they are - you go right over to the poultry forum and post. Tell em I sent ya. Take close ups of your chicks and their parents. Lot's of folks make quite a sport of trying to I.D. the mystery chicks. They're pretty nice folks - and they know a WHOLE LOTTA about chickens!
