Goat Packing Tomorrow!!!

Well, for the first time in 14 years, we are taking a vacation. We are loading up the milk does, the pack goats and heading up into the mountains to avoid the 108 degree weather they are predicting. We have gone on many day hikes, but we will be staying 4 days in the Trinity Alps. I am nervous to leave the house, but my mom lives here to care for the animals left behind. ((its just that I feel "nobody can care for them the way I do" thats making me nervous))

That sounds like a lot of fun! I'd never have thought to take my goats on vacation with me!
Last time we went on vacation we trusted our neighbors teen son to care for our animals. When we came home a week later, we had hoof prints all over the garden...the horses got loose and ate some corn and my egg incubator was turned way down...nothing hatched and I had to start incubating all over again! We don't go on vacations anymore.

I've gone on over 4 vacation camp outs with my family, our pack goats, and other like minded people. They are wonderfully fun to hike with. The official North American Packgoat Rendezvous ( campout) is being held in just a week or so in the Wind River region of WY....I wishwishwish I could be there.

If I had the time last year I would've gone to the Werner Mnts. with the goat pack club!

I just got back earlier this afternoon! It was awesome. There was a lot of bonding moments with our family! The goats did great. We went on a over 2 mile mostly up hill hike to a place called Stoddard Lake. It was great (and easy hike out because it was mostly down hill). There were a few people who asked about the pack goats. Mine have been on many day hikes and parades, but this was the first camp out.
...... and contrary to popular belief, teenaged girls do live without their cell phones... !
