Odd smelling rumen?

Maybe I am too close to my goats but a few of them have an almost medicinal /odd/sharp smell to their breath when they kindly burp near or in my face.
I noticed it two days ago from one bottle kid and today two more smelled the same.
One of them is acting off as well and just got the "treatment" of oil, a stomach beating, CDT, and a baking soda ball. When a 275 lb goat does NOT want to do something and it is just me, man it is hard! But I got it done and he had nice stomach gurglings, took a giant pee and stop the rolling around he was doing. I have had one case of bloat here and it was not like that, but it was odd for him to be doing that at night in the dark.

Please do not think I am crazy but 3 maybe 4 days ago I was walking the dogs on the ditch and there was a strong smell of almonds in the air. Of course my husband could not smell it, and mocked me Saying if it was cyanide the oil guys would be dead. Not my fault his nose is faulty
There are drilling yet more oil wells around me in 3 different directions and there is some type of plant up North that keeps venting some kind of crap in the air that day and again today. Or the ditch guy could have also sprayed something on the weeds and did not notify/ask me even though it is MY property.

My goats do not like baking soda, more often then not it just sits there untouched. Has anyone had this weird rumen smell? What caused it and how did you fix it?

Ketoacidosis can give their breath an Acetone odor

There are other things that can cause odd breath odors also:

Quote:
Some disorders will produce specific, characteristic odors to the breath.

Bad breath related to poor oral hygiene is most common and caused by release of sulphur compounds by bacteria in the mouth.

A fruity odor to the breath occurs as the body attempts to get rid of excess acetone through the breathing. This is a sign of ketoacidosis, which may occur in diabetes. It is a potentially life-threatening condition.

Breath that smells like feces can occur with prolonged vomiting, especially when there is a bowel obstruction. It may also occur temporarily if a person has a tube placed through the nose or mouth to the stomach to drain the stomach contents (nasogastric tube) in place.

The breath may have an ammonia-like odor (also described as urine-like or "fishy") in people with chronic kidney failure.

That's what I was thinking.

It wouldn't hurt to give them some probios.

What is a "stomach beating"?

They got some of that as well.

The ditch guy has not been by for me to ask if anything was sprayed. The weeds are dying from the hot sun and no rain so it is hard to tell if they are all wilty from that or a spray. My neighbor up the hill said they sprayed hers without asking and she had to move her donkeys for a bit.

"Stomach beating" is like baby burping, but harder patting and with massage. He is so huge I felt like I was beating him to make him burp. He seemed to like it tho. It was one of the few things he stood still for. The oil and baking soda he ran from. The probios was stuffed between Saltines, favorite snack so no fighting
