Manly doe mounting another doe

Is this normal? I know cows do this when they're in heat, but goats? She has been mounting the other doe repeatedly. This is the same doe that didn't breed last fall at a year and a half old. Her vulva also looks different from my other does. It's quite pointy at the bottom. Could she be a hermaphrodite? She is not polled. She also acts very buck-like and is always play fighting very roughly with the boys.

Mounting is dominance behavior. Boys will do it to boys, girls will do it to girls. It is unlikely your doe is a hermie, more likely that she is simply herd queen and wants to make sure everyone knows it, even if they ARE in heat.

Consider it to be goatie politics.

If she won't breed or can't breed it is very possible that she's a hemaphrodite. I probably couldn't tell you by looking at her, but some one here probably could if you could post a pic of her vulvar area (a lot easier said than done cause she'll want to see what you're doing!)

I butcherd a hemaphrodite recently that had not external oddities, but was different internally.

My parents had their first hermaphrodite born this year. It was the litter mate of two normal buck kids. There are no polled animals in the immediate pedigree. This kid looks like a buck kid but has an enlarged vulva. When it urinates, urine comes from both the vulval area and the navel. This kid acts very much like a buck.

It is not abnormal, however, for does to mount each other, particularly when both are in heat.

My doe kids mounted each other as part of their play - they mounted the wethered buckling, too.

Unless you see other signs that she may be hermaphroditic, I wouldn't worry about it. (And we all know what a huge worrier I am!)

Since she has never bred, would sure make me wonder ? Can you take a speculum and go up inside her to see if she has a cervix or a dead end?
